Broad Band light, better known as BBL™ in cosmetic surgery, is a revolutionary laser treatment that is far gentler on your skin than previous forms of laser treatments. Scarring from acne is a common problem that BBL treatments can reduce or even eliminate, depending on the severity of the scarring. Hormonal changes and pregnancy can cause acne, which is why more adult women experience acne than men. The good news is that you can have clear, radiant skin that is free from acne scars, thanks to BBL™ treatments at Mad Peaches Medical Spa.
BBL™ and Active Acne
BBL™ uses several different broadband light spectrums and can be used for various different skin treatments. It has proven to be highly effective at encouraging collagen regrowth for younger, revitalized skin. BBL™ also reverses many signs of aging such as wrinkles, age spots, large pores and dilated capillaries. Broadband light can be used to treat active acne outbreaks and reduce the signs of acne scarring.
Here is an example of how the various filters in BBL™ can reduce active acne as our laser specialist passes the device over the surface of your skin. A blue light spectrum in BBL™ attacks the acne-causing bacteria on the skin’s surface and in the sebaceous glands. A red filter alleviates the skin’s redness that accompanies acne, as well as the deeper lesions produced by acne. Another filter reduces the production of skin oils and overactive sebaceous glands. Used over the course of several weeks and in multiple treatment sessions, your acne outbreaks become a thing of the past. A few occasional touch-ups may be required in the future, but BBL™ has proven highly effective overall in treating and reducing acne outbreaks.
BBL™ for Acne Scarring
Depending on your goals for the procedure and how deep your acne scarring is, we may recommend an alternative treatment for you. But if you prove to be a good candidate for the procedure, it will be performed the same way as described above. A gel is applied to the surface of the skin before treatment, and it takes about 30 minutes for the entire procedure. The number of treatments required to resurface your skin and reduce your acne scarring will depend on the severity of the scars. The main difference is that after acne scarring is removed through a course of BBL™ treatments, no follow-ups are required. Once your acne scarring is fully reduced or removed, no more treatments are necessary.
Advantages of BBL™ for Acne Scarring
BBL™ offers several major advantages over alternative treatments for acne scarring. The main advantage is that BBL™ is extremely gentle. No anesthetic is required, and you may feel a slight warming sensation as the broadband light is applied. This is minimal when compared to a more invasive ablative laser procedure. BBL™ is so gentle that there is virtually no downtime or recovery time required. You may have a little bit of redness on your skin, but this can go away in 30 minutes. With a harsher ablative laser treatment, it can take up to three days for the redness to go away. BBL™ treatments have been approved as safe for use on the face, chest, hands, arms, legs, and neck.
BBL™ treatments are very quick, which makes them convenient for patients. You can complete a treatment during the span of a lunch break and be back to work on time if you’re in the Denver area. BBL™ has also been proven to provide long-lasting results, due to the broadband light’s ability to stimulate new collagen regeneration.
