Spider Veins Do Not Go Away On Their Own
Have you noticed veins creeping closer to the surface on your legs, hands and ankles? Detracting from your once smooth skin? As we age, blue veins are more prominent in areas where are skin is thin, such as the tops of hands.
There are many causes for spider veins. Most are the direct result of aging, but factors such as lack of exercise, weight gain, wearing heels, and even crossing your legs too much can cause these frustrating visible veins under your skin. Additionally, injury, trauma, and pregnancy may bring veins to the surface. Women are more likely to struggle with spider veins, but they’re present in men as well.
How we treat it
Walking around with makeup on your legs, dark tights or wearing long pants? It’s time to rid yourself of those embarrassing spider veins!
At Mad Peaches Med Spa, we use two forms of treatment for spider veins: sclerotherapy and laser vein reduction. Depending on your needs, we may use one or both; something that is discussed in your initial consultation.
Sclerotherapy is the medical gold standard treatment for spider vein treatment. A salt solution is injected directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and stick together as the blood clots. The injection works like a detergent, killing the vessel so that blood can no longer travel through the vein.
Leg veins can also be treated with laser light therapy. Laser Vein Treatment restores a clear, even skin tone by comfortably reducing unsightly veins with powerful, yet non-irritating laser energy. Typically, there is no downtime and you may resume your daily activities right away, although you must avoid direct sunlight for at least 10 days. Veins that have been treated disappear naturally in the coming days and weeks. Smaller capillaries will become invisible almost immediately.
