Symptoms
Causes
The range of possible causes include defects in the immune system, nervous system and facial blood vessels, and the presence of microbes and Demodex mites. Anecdotal evidence also suggests that a susceptibility to developing the disorder may be inherited, and genetic studies are now under way.
How we treat it
Broadband Light Therapy
While there are many over-the-counter creams and skin care regimes available, these will often end up costing more with little effect or worse, exacerbating the issue. Some prescription creams may yield results, but must be applied every day and are systemic in nature. At Mad Peaches, we use the most advanced, non-invasive skin rejuvenation laser that gives you lasting results. Broadband Light photo facials can reduce the redness and vascular lesions, as well as address the acne associated with rosacea, leading to a gorgeous, even-toned complexion. As with all patients but particularly those afflicted with rosacea, it is imperative to protect the skin from the elements of UV light. A zinc based sunscreen, such as EltaMD, is recommended for both protection from sun and healing. The anti- inflammatory effects of zinc are useful on a long term basis, both before and after any laser treatments. There is no downtime associated with the BroadBand Light treatment for rosacea. A temporary deepening of redness occurs immediately post laser, but dissipates revealing a more smooth and even complexion.
As with all of our treatments, we recommend healthy lifestyle choices. Being aware of the things that cause you to flush (spicy foods, heat) and moderating them accordingly will always support the treatment you have here in the spa.
